Property no. 1017267
Holiday home for max. 8 persons
Virserum, Vimmerby and surrounding area, Sweden
Holiday house in Hultsfred Municipality
This beautiful, well-tended holiday house, comprehensively renovated in 2015, enjoys an idyllic location on a very quiet residential road by the edge of the forest, in a row of little houses, on an elevation in the wonderful little town of Virserum in the midst of the hilly Småländ highlands with many forests and lakes. The big garden affords a view of the “Dackestupet” downhill ski piste and the little town.
The house has a modern, cosy Scandinavian interior, furnished with attention to detail and equipped with all the necessary utensils for a pleasant and relaxing stay. Enjoy lovely evenings by the open fireplace with a flue lining. Or you can have breakfast in the morning sun on the roofed terrace, with a view over town. Cable TV with a USB port and more than 20 Swedish and some English channels is available, along with free Internet access and a selection of board games for all ages. Some German films are available on DVD. The house with around 100m² of living space can accommodate a maximum of eight people and features an open layout in combination with furnishing of a high standard. It has two separate bedrooms each with two single beds (90 x 200cm). The living room with a fireplace provides two sofa beds each for two people (140 x 200cm). There is also a sofa bed (90 x 200cm) in the dining area. A cot and a highchair complete the family-friendly furnishing. The property is of course heated and habitable in winter. All the rooms have electric radiators. There is also a heat pump which ensures that the house can be heated quickly, along with the fireplace.
Relax on the furnished terrace with a grill, while the children play in their own child-friendly Wendy house “Lilla Bullerby”. There are up to four simple bicycles available for use free of charge, for little trips to the lake or to go shopping.
If there is a toddler sleeping in a cot and using a highchair, you do not need to indicate this on the booking under the number of people, only in the notes. A maximum of eight adults plus a toddler are allowed. Firewood and charcoal for the grill are not provided, nor are bed linen or towels, so you need to bring them with you or purchase them in the local supermarkets. The property is non-smoking.
The accommodation is very quiet on the outskirts, but the centre is still easy to get to. The big “Virserumssjön” lake is only a five to ten-minute walk away through the forest at the foot of the mountain. You can find several beautiful and child-friendly places to swim there, as well as fishing spots. A bakery, two supermarkets, a pharmacy and other little shops can also be found in Virserum. In summer Virserum has many tourist attractions. On Saturdays you can ride with the historical narrow-gauge train, and on all other days with a draisine along the same stretch. Several museums in DackeStop invite you to visit them, including the famous art hall, a furniture and a telecommunications museum. The nearest elk park is just a 20-minute drive away. There are also many natural attractions nearby, such as the Dackegrottan cave, several national parks or the More castle. The places that were the scen of Astrid Lindgren’s famous children’s stories, such as Vimmerby, Lönneberga or Bullerby, are easy to get to by car, as well as the “Astrid Lindgren Värld” leisure park or the Kleva Gruva, where you can also pan for gold. Of course on a holiday to Småland you should also go on a little trip to the famous glass world and the beautiful town of Kalmar with the famous castle and the 6-kilometre-long bridge to the beautiful sunny island of Öland. All the attractions of Småland, including the “Isaberg Mountain resort“, or the Baltic Sea coast, are one or two hours away by car. There is information material in the house about a wide range of trip destinations.
