There is access to 50 km hiking & biking at the doorstep, secluded beaches, take the Ferry over to Diamond Harbour, or a ride on the Gondola to take in the most amazing views, all just minutes away. There are two great surfing beaches Sumner and Taylors Mistake just minutes away, pack picnic. With only 20 min drive to downtown Christchurch and 30 min to the airport, it is the perfect starting point to discover New Zealand's South Island. Lyttelton boasts a fabulous farmers market on Saturdays where you can forage great food. Lyttelton offers some niche shops that you can look for that special treasure to remember you treasured time here, a great historical shopping complex the Tannery is just minutes away. My hometown Lyttelton is a lively community with a working port just 20 m inter from Christchurch and 30 minutes from the airport. But above all, it provides access to 30+ km hiking & biking at your doorstep, secluded beaches, surfing beaches not far away, unique shopping, cafes and restaurants. Check out my guideGetting aroundLyttelton is just a small village, but you can come and stay without a car and find within 5 minutes walking distance good restaurants, basically a different one for every day of the week. You also find good bars, coffee shops, supermarket and other you need to enjoy a wonderful week. There is also a public bus connecting Lyttelton with Christchurch. Finding your way to Lyttelton Boatique House as you exit the tunnel turn right around the round about, follow the road until you reach the very first house perched on the left. Park your car in front of the front door half on the foot path and half on the road, unload then kindly park your car in front of the house on Godley Quay. If you have a larger vehicle you may want to consider to park your car down in the Marina car park, it is just a minute away and all parking is free. Enjoy!!!
