House in Maxen with Private Pool and Beautiful View
The holiday house in the charming mountain village of Maxen is about ten kilometres from Dresden. The generous garden is shielded from views in. To the rear there are fields and open land, while towards the road there is a very beautiful view into the distance towards the Saxon Switzerland. There is a garden gazebo next to the house with seating. There is also a garage on site. There is a pool right in front of the conservatory measuring 4.5 x 3m, with a depth of ca. 160cm. It is open from May to October, depending on the weather.
There is a modern LED TV with satellite channels, as well as a video and DVD player, so you can entertain yourselves in rainy weather with the comprehensive collection of videos and DVDs provided.
There is plenty of space for two people. It is possible to use the sofa bed in the living room if required. The bedroom has plenty of cupboards and a wide double bed. There are also a fully-equipped kitchen, a bathroom and a generous conservatory, for a perfect holiday.
Maxen is to the south of Dresden. It is about 30 minutes by car straight to the centre, or about an hour by train, where you can admire the Dresden sights (Zwinger, Frauenkirche, painting gallery) or go shopping (Zentrumsgalerie, Altmarketgalerie). In the evening the Dresden new town invites you to visit various bars. It is about 30 minutes by car from Maxen along the Müglitztalstrasse to the eastern Erzgebirge, or you can go by train. It is about a 15-minute walk to the Mühlbach station in the valley. You can go on extended walking tours in the lovely forested landscape of the eastern Erzgebirge, an area that has good tourist amenities. Tranquil localities such as Geising or Bärenfels invite you to go on a tour. In winter you can go skiing and sledging in Altenberg, about 700 metres above sea level with snow guaranteed.
Maxen is famous for its interesting history (a famous battle in the Seven Years’ War took place near Maxen), as well as for its beautiful hilly landscape near the eastern Erzgebirge and close to the bizarre sandstone setting of the Saxon Switzerland. Both of these areas are nearby and within easy access by car or train. Maxen is very interesting especially from a cultural point of view. Back in the 19th century Maxen was already a gathering place for artists. The Danish fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen or the painter Johann Cristian Clausen-Dahl and Caspar David Friedrich were guests at Maxen Castle, which still exists today. In the meantime an art scene has established itself again in Maxen, with several galleries and cafés. There are the Listhus – an enticing place with imaginatively arranged art objects, the Kunsthof Maxen, with a comprehensive seminar programme and a centuries-old ambience as an inspiration for artistic work, the castle gallery and the smallest museum in Germany – the Lindenmuseum Clara Schumann in Schmorsdorf, not far from Maxen.
