The atraveo award 2011 goes to Zingst, Riva and Volendam
Holidaymakers have decided and atraveo counted: The winners of the atraveo award 2011 for “Best Holiday Resort” are Baltic Sea Health Spa Zingst, Riva del Garda and Volendam at the Ijsselmeer. On average they got the best reviews from our customers and are the most recommended travel destinations in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. The official award ceremony for Zingst and Riva del Garda took place in March 2011 on the occasion of the Travel Trade Show (ITB) in Berlin. The award ceremony for Volendam took place in March in Volendam.
Thousands of customers were asked to not only review the holiday accommodation but also the resort. This way many useful tips and suggestions about tourist attractions as well as hospitality were obtained which can be of use for prospective holiday makers. The award is based on all reviews made on atraveo during the last season. All holiday resorts in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands were considered that got a minimum number of reviews.
The prize for the „Best Holiday Resort” was awarded for the second consecutive time. However it was the first time that three prize winners were selected one for each country.

Zingst tops the list for the second time
This is the already the second time in a row that Zingst on the Baltic Sea peninsula Fischland-Darss-Zingst has received this award. Here one can listen to the waves whilst enjoying a walk on the long pier or relaxing at one of the Baltic Sea beaches. Bike trips along the dunes offer a welcome change of to a classic beach vacation. An atraveo customer phrased it like this: “Beautiful health resort, fine clean beach, good catering.” Every year plenty of holidaymakers are inspired by the family-friendly atmosphere, numerous attractions and the idyllic location at the Baltic Sea. Therefore it is not surprising that the resort was again chosen by our customers as number one. With more than 170 holiday domiciles in Zingst and 280 in total spread across the whole peninsula atraveo offers a diverse selection from typical thatched-roof houses to small holiday apartments.

Situated right on the northern tip of Lake Garda in the province Trentino the picturesque town in front of a legendary mountain setting has welcomed sun-seeking guests from the north for centuries. Typical for Riva del Garda are the numerous lemon and olive trees which grace the town and is also referred to as the 'Pearl of Lake Garda'. One can really enjoy the Italian flair at the market or when strolling through the many small alleyways in the evening as Riva has been able to preserve its original charm. That is also how this atraveo customer describes it: “Riva del Garda is a beautiful place with great flair! The resort gives an insight into Italian everyday life.” Holidaymakers appreciate the numerous water sports activities at Lake Garda and not least the excellent accessibility by car. Mainly one can find holiday apartments, many of which with lake view.

The Dutch fishing village Volendam in the province North Holland is the favoured destination of holiday home vacationers. The resort offers typical timber houses, canals and provides a great setting at the Ijsselmeer and offers a comfortable ambience and maritime flair. “Lovely small harbour town with many alleys where one can take a stroll” is how an atraveo customer described the resort. The holiday complex Marinapark is very popular with families as it offers a playground, swimming pool and a marina.

Dirk Froelje, managing director of atraveo, presented the award to Zingst at the stand of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania where the major of Zingst, Andreas Kuhn was the recipient (photo on the left). “I am very pleased that Zingst has again received the award for the “Best Holiday Resort”. This confirms continuous efforts to provide a high level of satisfaction for our guests” said Andreas Kuhn.
The award for Riva del Garda was received by the major of the town, Adalberto Mosaner, at the stand of the region Trentino (centre photos). “We gladly accept this award and hope to welcome once again this summer many holiday house tourists in Riva del Garda and around Lake Garda” said a delighted Mr. Mosaner.
The award for the Netherlands took place in the winning resort Volendam. Present were the major of the municipality Edam-Volendam Willem van Beek, the Tourism Minister Wim Runderkamp, Jet Jongebloed from VVV, the Roompot park manager Philip Donders as well as Dirk Froelje and Kim Hüneke from atraveo (photo on the right).
