Surrounded by several world heritage sites, lakes, hiking areas, nature reserves, the road of romance and other attractions such as the fascinating Selketal, the climbing paradise Gegenstein or the Harz narrow-gauge railways, the holiday offerings range for weeks or invites you to come back. In internationally renowned medieval towns like Quedlinburg and Wernigerode are many construction-historical treasures, but also stylish sidewalk cafes and modern shopping opportunities. The former residence of Ballenstedt itself is a nationally recognized resort and is home to one of the mightiest castles in the resin and one of the oldest theaters in Germany. In the chapel of the monastery church and the tomb of Albrecht is the Bear, Margrave of Brandenburg and founder of Berlin. It really pays to go exploring.
