L'Oustal Marcellin is located in the heart of the medieval town of Fanjeaux. You'll be strolling through the village's historic lanes, while still being within easy reach of all amenities.

Nestling over 360m above sea level on the beautiful plains of the Lauragais, the village of Fanjeaux is sure to charm you with its rich heritage. You can relive its Cathar history dating back to the 13th century and immerse yourself in the spirituality of the cradle of the Dominican Order. There are many places to visit in the surrounding area: the Cité de Carcassonne, the UNESCO-listed Canal du Midi, Castelnaudary, world capital of cassoulet, the book village of Montolieu, Mirepoix (with its medieval covered market comes alive every Monday morning with a huge market), the Cathar castles of Lastours, Saissac, Puivert and Monségur, the abbeys of Saint-Papoul, Villelongue and FontFroide as well as supervised swimming in lakes such as Saint Ferreol. For the more adventurous, there are white-water kayaking trips in the Haute Vallée de l'Aude.

The village is home to a children's playground, a multi-sports ground and a tennis court, as well as a host of shops within easy walking distance: bar-tobac-press, Table Cathare restaurant, grocery shop, L'Occitan Burger quality fast-food restaurant using fresh local produce, bakery-pastry shop, Salon Bleuthé tea room, florist, hairdresser's, pharmacy (with teleconsulting booth, etc.).

You can park your car next to the gîte in the public car park, with a second shaded car park nearby. In the first car park, just a short walk from the gîte, you'll find two charging points for electric vehicles. The gîte has 2 outdoor areas. On the ground floor, off the kitchen: a patio with garden furniture, indoor barbecue area and fridge-freezer. Upstairs: a shady garden with deckchairs for basking in the Midi sunshine.

The gîte has several rooms on the ground floor: - A living room with sofas (including a sofa bed) and TV - A separate, fully-equipped kitchen with direct access to the patio -Storage space for bikes or sports equipment -First floor: -- A first bedroom with a double bed (140cm) -- A separate bathroom with bath and washbasin -- Separate WC -- A second bedroom with a 140cm mezzanine bed, a study area and a small lounge with armchairs. This room has the only access to the garden. -Baby equipment available on request. Bed linen and towels included. End-of-stay cleaning extra. Pets are welcome for a supplement of 5 euros per day. Enclosed outdoor area available. -Cleaning charge: 50 euros --Electricity consumption: 2kwH/day/person included. Excess consumption to be paid to the owner at the end of your stay.
