Der Erzählung nach verdankt die Josefskapelle ihre Entstehung einem Vater von zwölf Söhnen. Diese zwölf Söhne hätten sich dem geistlichen Stande gewidmet und seien Priester geworden, und so habe der Vater aus Dankbarkeit für diese Freude und Gnade durch Kornauer Maurer und Zimmerleute die Kapelle bauen lassen.
