Holiday houses in Montenegro – Sunny Adriatic coast
Those choosing a holiday house in Montenegro will enjoy a great holiday with lots of sun and beautiful beaches at the Adriatic coast. The Republic Montenegro, which became independent in 2006 after the collapse of the Eastern Block is situated in the south of Europe at the sea. The former Yugoslavian country borders Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Albania, Serbia and Kosovo. Montenegro lies on the other side of the Adriatic Sea opposite the Italian region Apulia. The beautiful Adriatic Coast of Montenegro is shaped by rugged mountains and lovely small bays which the guests of a holiday apartment will appreciate.
Holiday houses in Montenegro – Rugged hinterland
Whilst the holiday apartments in Montenegro are located at the coast which is also the focus of the tourism industry, the country’s capital Podgorica can be found in the hinterland. The back country is characterised by mountain ranges, many gorges and valleys. The Tara River Gorge is Europe’s deepest ravine. Compared to other European countries Montenegro is very sparsely populated. Therefore the forest area is very large and mainly untouched, which is ideal for huntsmen and hikers. The mixture of Mediterranean forest of holm oaks and typical Macedonian oaks as well as central European beeches, fir trees and spruces is both intriguing and diverse.
Cultures and languages
Especially remarkable is the huge diversity of cultures and ancestries this small state’s population has to offer. The country is home to Montenegrins, Serbs, Bosnians, Albanians, Muslims, Croatians as well as Romany people. Accordingly the number of spoken languages and religions are very high in the respective individual regions. This is very interesting for holidaymakers renting a holiday apartment. Next to the lovely holiday resorts at the Adriatic coast (e.g. in the Bay of Kotor) there are also holiday domiciles in the hinterland of the country, for example in Risan, Dobrota and around Tivat. The offer of historical cities in Montenegro is vast and offers great places for window shopping and strolling around. One can find lots of lovely small cafes for observing the hustle and bustle whilst enjoying a cold drink or an ice cream. The Montenegrin cuisine also offers a large selection of cultural diverse dishes and delicacies. Why don’t you try it yourself?
